My sound card is apparently detected when I start up my system, but I can't
get any sounds under KDE 3.4. This is a brand new install, and it seems to
work fine on another system. The soundcard is a SoundBlaster Live! 32 card,
about five years old. I've already checked and made sure that the volume is
turned up and nothing is muted in KMix and in Alsamixer. The card is in fine
shape, since it worked fine under KDE 3.3 before I upgraded to 3.4 from
kde-redhat repo. Looking at my system and kernel logs, I find nothing that
looks like it has to do with the sound card. I think I may be missing a
driver or two, but I'm not sure how to find out.

Can anyone suggest anything else that I can check?

System is KDE 3.4 using kernel 2.6.11 on FC3. I've also tried 2.6.9 kernel
with no luck.

Try moving your speaker cable to the other output jack. I had a similar
problem. That's what fixed it for me.

Do you have the kde sound system pointing to alsa as your hardware driver.

That's about the only other things that I can suggest

Eli
