I think it's great - especially in that it enables those of us who don't 
follow all the lists to keep up on new developments.

One suggestion for improvement: I find it much more comfortable to read 
nested comments rather than threads. Once the number of comments goes over 
30, I'm usually too busy or lazy to open 20 new windows to read the various 
threads. The result is that I generally skip the discussion on the most 
interesting articles.

If you want to change this, the easiest way would simply be to raise the 
threshold value. I assume that setting can be modified in your Squishdot 
setup. (Squishdot was written back when a huge Slashdot article, like the 
release of the Mozilla source, saw 60 posts. I don't think the authors 
envisioned the traffic we see today.) 

In the long run, you may want to consider a different engine, though. 

But, on the whole, the site is terrific!
