Hey folks :)

Anyone up for writing a short dot story announcing that KDE has been
accepted for GSoC? Doesn't need to be long. Should have:
* we're accepted. Yay!
* GSoC logo
* why GSoC is awesome
* we're looking forward to working once again with a lot of really
awesome students on kick-ass projects
* link to our ideas list at http://community.kde.org/GSoC/2014/Ideas

Cheers
Lydia

["kdegsoc2014.txt" (text/plain)]

The KDE Project is happy to announce that it has been accepted in the
annual Google Summer of Code for 2014. This will allow students from
around the world to work on developing existing KDE software whilst
receiving sponsorship from Google.

<add gsoc logo here>

The Google Summer of Code programme offers not only development
funding but also mentorship to students who want to work on open
source software projects. The programme provides students the
opportunity to learn more about coding, working within structured
software development environments, and to push bug fixes and new
features into real-world, production software. For Google and the rest
of the world, the programme provides improvements to the software that
millions of computerists use on a daily basis.

The ideas on what a student entering the GSoC programme might work on
are offered from developers and uses alike. The KDE project has a list
for the 2014 workload online at
http://community.kde.org/GSoC/2014/Ideas. Depending on what students
choose to develop, this could mean it will be a big year for popular
KDE software such as Amarok, digiKam, Marble, Krita, the PIM suite,
and more.

The KDE ® Community is an international technology team dedicated to
creating a free and user-friendly computing experience, offering an
advanced graphical desktop, a wide variety of applications for
communication, work, education and entertainment and a platform to
easily build new applications upon. Visit http://kde.org for more
information.
