This could be a series of single GCI projects--students individually making
short, simple videos that link in the configuration of each effect in
Configure Desktop > Desktop Effects. Quite a good set of projects IMO. I've
wondered what some of the effects do. For example, which Desktop Switching
(alt-tab) effect do I want? And I just experimented today with the Zoom
effect (I don't know where I'll use it, but at least now I know that it's
possible.)

Your students should be able to work together to create these. They could
use Kdenlive to edit. There would not be a lot for a mentor to do.
Baltasar, could you suggest yourself as the mentor for the sake of Google
Code-In?

With a student-led team project for all effects, they would also learn how
KDE is managed and how KDE contributors figure things out. And the mentor's
role would be to encourage them to learn and work together...even though
the projects are individual. Perhaps KDE-promo and Martin Gr=E4=DFlin could
suggest priorities. And the Author of each effect could provide detailed
assistance, if necessary.

When the individual videos are complete, they could be put together into a
single KWin video and featured on the Dot. In that case, it would make
sense for Martin to offer guidance. They may need some feedback on the
overall video production. KDE-promo can assist with that.

This would be a valuable contribution to KDE. I encourage you to submit
these projects in response to Lydia's email today with the subject "Google
Code-in tasks needed". Tasks need to be added to the wiki by Monday. There
are potentially 45 small projects there that are appropriate for Google
Code-In.

Carl
