This is a big missed opportunity. Almost every time there's a release
announcement, there are comments about bug fixes. Publicizing the
amount and type of work that is being accomplished is important to
demonstrating KDE's value. In turn, this translates into the value of
contributing to KDE, in particular, financial support.

Sebastian, could your suggestions be made more of a requirement in the
process? And have the information flow easily to release notes?

It would be useful to incorporate Lukas's ease of use suggestions that
could be navigated easily by non-technical, non-KDE people. Some links
to this kind of information would be helpful in the release
announcement. Below is the section of the 4.7 announcement dealing
with bugs. Giving people access to details would be useful.

"Stability As Well As Features
In addition to the many new features described in the release
announcements, KDE contributors have closed over 12,000 bug reports
(including over 2,000 unique bugs in the software released today)
since the last major release of KDE software. As a result, our
software is more stable than ever before."

I'd be interested in working this into the release announcement
process we've been discussing.
