No, those events have absolutely no link besides the name, and I find
this quite disturbing, as the one in Karlsruhe appears to be organized
by a editor/company, while the OpenExpo in Switzerland is organized by
http://www.ch-open.ch, who are the association of the FOSS companies
in Switzerland. Big difference!

But hey, if openexpo.de is really more than just a self-profiling
action by one editor, all the better :)
