Hi,

In the Free Software World (in Linux for example) YOU have the choice. What is 
good for you is your choice.

Running KDE applications on GNOME will be nice if you use a Qt-GTK theme so 
that visual is nice. Ask your distribution about it please. Be sure to install 
SystemSettings if you use KDE 4 applications an want to change the font size 
for example or other settings.

KDE applications are fully integrated in the KDE desktop but can be ran 
without any problem outside it. For example I ran KDE 3 applications on a KDE 
4 desktop for several months.
