Hi everybody,
Today I'm writing in my capacity as the KDE press contact for Africa
rather than as just a member, sending a mail I was specifically asked
to send.

I seems a bit odd to be writing a request for Afrikaans speakers in
English but this is the language of the list, so I'm going with it.
The reason for my mail is that as we were discussing preparations for
the upcoming KDE4.2 release on the promo-list I offered to do an
Afrikaans translation of the release announcement - which was when
somebody pointed out to me that the Afrikaans translation for KDE has
not been worked on since KDE4.0 and is no longer matched to essential
status (meaning it covers enough of the system to be released
officially).
So I was asked to send out a request for Afrikaans speakers who can
spare some time to please get in touch with the Afrikaans translation
project for KDE and help to get the translation updated so it can be
released with the rest of KDE4.2.
As one of the only African languages available for KDE it is a
particularly important translation and lays crucial groundwork which
will hopefully swell in time to also give us solid translation
projects for the Nguni and Ndebele languages.

So herewith a request for anybody who can contribute some Afrikaans
skill and a bit of time to help us get this translation back to
essential status and beyond. If you don't know who to contact, feel
free to mail me offlist and I will put you touch with the right
people.
