I sure was ;-)
On the same note, I've finished integrating the stuff from the old site for
the new one. I must say, imho it's much more complete now. The new text of
course was supposed to be shorter, so I've reworded stuff often, but it IS a
big step forward. Sorry for not doing this earlier (I didn't know how to
access it, now I used websvn which worked great).
Anyway, it's far from ready. Sometimes a bit overdone, maybe, and sometimes
we could elaborate more, I guess.
I think I love some feedback now ;-) Just go through the text, please, and
change to your liking. Don't be afraid to change stuff. I SHOULD put this on
a wiki, but where?
Having a terrible headache (had no sleep tonight thanx to mosquito's and
heat) I might not continue to be productive all day, but I'll try.

["discover.txt" (text/plain)]
- content needs to be ported to what's there right now (imho practically done, jos)
- content needs to be finished
* Aaron suggested to try to use the term freedom a lot all over the place, as a \
recurring theme: in the "discover *" scheme as proposed in your email, freedom is \
given an entry at the end. why not instead blend freedom into each discover page, so \
it becomes the "silent noun" to the omnipresent verb "discover"?
- I agree with this, but it still has to be done.
* Now about our target users:
Target audience is people that don't know about KDE, Free Software and what a Desktop \
is and does.
the text:
Shoud be easily understandable and to the point. No huge amounts of text should be \
there. Directly address the reader with words like "you" instead of "the user".

discover.kde - main page (we're still talking about this)
- What is KDE 4.0: Desktop / Free Software community, complete set of applications \
for almost every task you use a computer for
- Be KDE. (About the community that builds it, Free Software, link through to \
w.k.o/getinvolved/)
text:
The K Desktop Environment® (KDE®) is a graphical \
desktop and a set of applications. It is created by a world-wide community of people \
dedicated to create a free and user-friendly computing experience.
The KDE desktop runs on various Free operating systems, such as Linux and UNIX. There \
are various ways of trying KDE, for example Live CD's that make it possible to try \
KDE out on your computer without touching your valued data. The <a \
href="http://www.kde.org/trykde/">Try KDE!</a> page lists some of those.
- screencast with short demo (3-5 minutes max, explain the interface of the desktop \
briefly)
****************************************************
discover.integration- focusing on capabilities of plasma and some other new \
technologies integration of plasma widgets - the ability to move a clock from the \
desktop to a panel integration of communication (decibel stuff?) - something dealing \
with appointments, addresses, etc. integration integration of search (strigi) - \
something about the capabilities of the semantic search maybe something about audio \
and/or video integration KOFFICE!!!
text:
Sounds as a good way to introduce ppl to the technical part without being technical, \
but showing the advantages. Props! Maybe someone can up with a cooler name than \
integration, though. I'm not native english, so I can't really thing of anything \
other than ' discover.blending' ;-) Maybe discover.seamless?
Krita is a program that allows you to paint and edit images. Even though Krita is \
designed to be easy to use, it has many powerful tools such as polygon, bezier curve, \
and perspective transform. Since it is part of KOffice, many of Krita's capabilities \
are accessible from within other KOffice applications.

discover.creativity - focusing on some cool features of some KDE apps
amarok - 1 or 2 cool ways to "rediscover" your music
krita - color mixing
something about the benefits of using svg in the games?
something about the music flake?
Maybe KDENLIVE?
maybe mention the games?
text:
Discovery involves joy, wonder, and excitement. We aim to let KDE users experience \
this during their daily use of a computer! KDE provides many ways for you to \
rediscover the fun in life. Amarok will help you rediscover your music by \
recommending new music or creating a playlist for you thanks to it's last.fm \
integration. Professional and amateur artists rediscover the joy of painting with \
Krita's powerfull, realistic color mixer and great tablet support. Have fun with your \
digital photos with Digikam, retouching, indexing and viewing them. Rediscover your \
entertainment system through LinuxMCE with features such as starting a movie in one \
room and finishing it in another. And if you're bored, we have many cool games you \
can play, even with your friends over the internet! Imagine what else you'll \
experience while exploring the creative side of KDE!

discover.beauty - oxygen stuff, SVG, usability here as well?
icons
window deco
color schemes
kwin compiz style effects
gethotnewstuff - sharing themes and such? maybe this belongs to discover.friends or \
discover.creativity...
text:
The KDE community considers beauty an important feature of a User Interface. It is \
important for both aestetic and usability reasons, thus artists and usability experts \
have joined us to create a usable and good looking interface for your enjoyment. With \
the Oxygen style, including icons, wallpapers and other theme components, KDE offers \
a modern and attractive look. Our applications have been improved to make use of \
smooth animations, giving them a more natural feel. And usability engineers are \
always looking at our interface to ensure we show you things that are actually \
usefull and make sense. All this to ensure it is a JOY to work with KDE, not a CHORE!

discover.friends - a little bit about current friends, more about new friends (i.e., \
the KDE community), sharing - communicate from old site. existing friends - email, \
IM, etc. new friends - people that:
are just like you
want to help others
are passionate
are creative
are friendly
sharing like last.fm, collaborative editing (won't be in KDE 4.0 yet),
text:
You like to communicate and share. KDE recognizes this, and we have worked hard to \
enable you to talk to your friends, find new and interesting people and to share what \
you create with the world. We have integrated chat and communication in the desktop. \
If your friends are online, you can send them a file just by dropping it on their \
face image on your desktop. You can open a communication channel with them, and you \
don't have to care if they use MSN messenger, ICQ or any other technology - KDE \
worries about that for you. You can schedule activities with them from our Personal \
Information Management software. Just add blog plasmoid to your desktop and you'll be \
bloggin in seconds. Work with someone else on a document with KOffice, or annotate \
any document or picture with Okular and share these annotations with others. Listen \
to the music which is shared by all other people on your local network, or even over \
the internet with Amarok. KDE enables you to live your live together, not alone!

education about education and KDE
text:
KDE has plenty of applications that make it the perfect software package for \
