Imho, being that its KDE 4, and ushering in a new era in the Linux Desktop, I
would think 5.1 audio (properly routed - I have yet to figure out precisely
how mixing will be handled) would be the way to go. Unfortunately, it seems
that Vorbis 5.1 encoded files don't do channel coupling yet.
Also, I'm not entirely sure how mixing is being handled by default. I'm
assuming kmix will still be there - but I am curious about frequency routing.
Anyway, I'm going OT on that part of it. I'd be happy to help, as I should
finish my setup shortly after I move, but I'd be interested in input for
sounds - I would lean towards something musical, but soft. I know I've been
turned off by obnoxious and ever-increasing volume from startup sounds
before. Any opinions on this?
