The port was apparently at least partly done by
Ryan Gordon of Icculus and formerly LOKI Enter-

The GTK+ installer in question appears to be
the good old LOKI Games installer, used even
by some newer Linux game ports. In some ways,
you could say the LOKI installer is the closest
the Linux platform ever got to InstallShield ;-).


As for Google Earth, the application is based
on technology Google acquired along with Key-
hole Inc. a couple of years back. If I remem-
ber correctly, Enterprise-grade versions of
the Keyhole software, such as Keyhole Fusion,
were always available for Linux.
