i honestly don't think it's been divisive at all. it's certainly stirred 
debate, but within the project nobody hates me and i don't hate anybody any 
more than when this whole thing started =) what it has done within the 
project is make people think about decisions being made. i don't think it's 
wise for us to shy away from discussing the "hard topics" just because we 
won't all agree. it's OK not to agree, and it's OK to discuss things at 
length. it helps everyone and the project chart a clearer course that 
everyone feels more involved in. at least, that's my take on it. others may 
care to share their alternative viewpoint on it.

and great job on the PR, by contacting the author! if done professionally and 
with accuracy, this sort of effort can certainly turn out great results.
