Here's the first version of my compilation of facts relevant to the KDE
project for LINUXTAG 2004. Unfortunately the wiki is still down so we have no
other choice as to distribute to information like this.

PLEASE PROVIDE ME WITH ANY NEW INFORMATION IF POSSIBLE!

1.) This is especially important for your own data (see "STAFF")!

2.) Please tell me whether you'll be able to arrive on tuesday to build up the
booth (we didn't ask for this specifically yet).

3.) Please tell me whether you want to attend for KDINNER (see "STAFF").

4.) In addition if you haven't done already send me your data for business
cards which we might be able to print. This includes information about your

Name, Position, E-Mail, Full Address, phone numbers, PGP Key

5.) Please tell me anything you'd like to do in addition to the stuff already
mentioned here.

6.) Please inform me if you are (or somebody else is) not listed as part of
the staff yet.

Regards,
Torsten Rahn

KDinner: We will have a KDE-Buffet at a greek restaurant on Thursday at 19:30
(probably with Debian and Gnome - similar to last year). You will need to pay
about EUR 11 if you want to participate.
This is not related to the LinuxTag Social Event on Friday for which we have
to make arrangements in addition!

Please subscribe to kde-events-de@kde.org if you want to help.

 (1) KDE — The integrative Desktop / Usability
 (2) KDevelop — RAD with KDevelop and Qt
 (3) KDE EDU — Science, Edutainment, Government / Schools and Kids with KDE
 (4) Kiosk / KDE on Thin-Clients / Accessibility
 (5) KDE PIM / Kontact — Groupware for Linux, PDAs
 (6) KOffice — Linux in the Office

In addition there's a demo point where Franz Schmid shows Scribus on the
"Office Productivity Booth"

HOTEL:
======
We booked some rooms at the ETAP Hotel

Etap Hotel Karlsruhe Ost
Killisfeldstr. 62
76227 Karlsruhe, Germany
phone: (+49) 0721 49 02 720

Right now I know for sure that we have 6 beds available from 22.-25. June.
Actually we should have 4 beds more between 23.-25. but we are still in the
process of figuring out whether these got lost due to a communication error
with Mirko (he might have forgotten to forward us some ps/pdf's). We should
know within the next 6 hours and we will keep you informed.

We weren't able to book any rooms from Friday to Saturday. So unless you have
already taken care of it you should try to get a place to sleep in the gym.
(On the other hand the social event will take place at that night and you
might stay up until the next morning anyways ...)

STAYING IN THE GYM:
==================

There will be a gym hall (called AKK) maintained by the KaLUG people. Project
members can apply for space there. Booking is done through the private LTP
interface http://www.infodrom.org/LinuxTag/, hence, you'll need an account
there, ask Tackat for it. This hall is intended to serve project members and
not regular visitors. Breakfast is sold at cost at 3.00. Steffen Mutter has
also listed some more sleeping information.

UPDATE: The AKK is filled up. We're sorry. It is possible, though, to use a
tent there as well, but it has to be dismantled during the day. There will
also be the university party on Saturday which could mean a lot of "fun". If
you use a tent, please talk to the AKK people in Karlsruhe. We have a list of
people who did not find a place inside the AKK so we can calculate the need
(which could be used for next year), hence, it would be helpful to contact
Joey (see above) anyway.

 For further information on the gym, please refer to the Karlsruher LUG
http://www.ka.linux.de/linuxtag/nacht.html . The gym is the "Altes Stadium"
of the University of Karlsruhe.

TRAVEL BETWEEN EXPO AND HOTEL:
==============================

by bus/tram:
------------
Check the connections at Electronic Timetable Information for
Baden-Württemberg For a connection from the expo to the hotel you have to
fill in the following:

Karlsruhe - Haltestelle - Kongresszentrum
Karlsruhe - Stra/Hausnr. - Killisfeldstr. 62

The trip is about 15-25 min and you need to walk 2-12 min. depending on your
connection. One direction is 1.80 Euro.

by car:
-------
you can get a route at the website of Falk
http://www.falk.de/routenplaner/controller_rp.jsp

PROMOTION MATERIAL: (Posters, Flyers, Gadgets)
===================
* We need somebody who will pick up some promo material from Daniel in
Chemnitz and deliver it in Karlsruhe by Tuesday.

* Flyer for aKademy and KDE (Eva, reusing the old ones ?)

* Some new A1/A0 Posters are being printed right now (Who has got the old ones
btw? We want them to be available as well)

* Martin Konold will bring the XXL - stuffed Konqi along. He told me that we
should handle him carefully as he has aged already quite a bit and it might
break if you treat him without caution.

* Dirk will bring some large transparent KDE-stickers along to label the booth
and the demopoints

ADDTIONAL INFORMATION:
=====================

The Infomails are archived at:
http://www.infodrom.org/Debian/events/LinuxTag2004/

SOCIAL EVENT:
============
The social event is usually an amazing mixture of business people, community,
speakers and organisers. It will take place on Friday June 25th at the lido
Wolfartsweiher starting at 19 o'clock. Since there will be pool attendants
until 23 o'clock, you are free to take a bath if you like.

The LinuxTag Team has organised shuttle busses which will take you from
LinuxTag to the lido, starting at the congress centrum Stadthalle. They will
carry visitors from LinuxTag to the lido and vice versa from 19 o'clock until
2 o'clock in the morning.

Since many people are probably interested in the European soccer championship
which will take part at the same time, we plan to telecast it with a beamer.
We also plan to have a music band or a DJ.

For booth staff that is listed for your project the price per ticket is €
15.00, for regular visitors and non-project staff the price per ticket is €
25.00. The ticket includes food and regular fluids (non-alcoholic, beer,
wine). There will be a barbecue starting at about 20 o'clock, including
vegetarian food. When you arrive at LinuxTag, please drop by at our office
where you can pay for and fetch the tickets.

EXHIBITOR PASSES:
================

We'll get those on Monday and give them to you as soon as you'll arrive. If
you didn't get them right in time please phone Tackat as soon as you need
them (mobile phone 0160 843 0843).
