i agree; however this article is inteded to cover _only_ new applications (and 
parts / plugins)...  apparently i didn't make this quite clear enough in my 
first email since several people have made some very good suggestions along 
similar lines.

but the issues you raise really deserve their own article.

thanks for volunteering me ;-) 

i must say, though, that it can be very difficult for me to write such an 
article since i'm painfully aware, perhaps moreso than most due to 
concentrating on them, of the usability flaws that remain in KDE. a case of 
being a bit too close to your subject matter, perhaps... but we'll see...
