IIRC, the goal of LSB is to specify a kind of standard that a linux
distribution must meet. I find it hard to imagine that a distribution would
choose not to integrate KDE because it is not in the LSB.
Some distribution may choose not to include KDE (one starting with a R comes
to my mind) but LSB certainly won't change anything to that.
Their issue with C++ was that it does not have a stable ABI.
I find their argument for Qt licensing irrelevant:
- lot of free software runs with Qt, so not including Qt does harm a linux
distribution
- they are not the one who should decide if a company wants to use Qt or
not, their goal is to provide a standard way of providing Qt.
Mmh, I should be writing directly to them.
I find it surprising to see Alan Cox believing that Gtk will take over the
world, especially the commercial applications world. I wonder if he has
ever tried Qt.
Philippe
