Well -- there is a working gcc (I think there are 2.95 *and* 3.2)
on KNOPPIX *now*.
And distcc doesn't store on the remote hosts at all -- it sends
all results back to the compile client host.
It would be just oh, so cool if I could put in 5 KNOPPIX CDs into
my colleagues' hi-speed, 512 WinXP-boxen (I've got their permission
already) and make them help compile KDE-CVS within *hours* instead
of *days* (I've a 400 MHz, 256MByte Linux box at work).
To have something usefull as this is hi-level *promo* too -- even
if it is not so obvious to end-users.
If it works -- imagine all the KDE developers who might be able to
do similarly. Imagine their time-saving. Imagine them all carrying
KDE-Knoppix-CDs around for this reason alone ( -- und thusly
unwittingly promoting KDE ;-)
These two tools are under 500 kBytes combined. And there is no
reason why they shouldn't work on a KNOPPIX, if gcc works...
