Gtk, not gnome, and for the simple reason that when they started,
there was no other valid solution for scripting languages. We now have
qt/perl, qt/python etc., but this didn't exist at the time.

I haven't seen Mandrake pushing any development platform in particular.
Using gtk doesn't mean pushing gtk - as you say, the result isn't too convincing ;)

Mandrake is desktop-independent, as in "we have them all, and we push
all of them on an equal basis". Which means the distributor doesn't make the
choice, it's the user who does. I think this is quite fair, as much as we
(pro-kde people) would like to see KDE everywhere and only KDE.
