The problem is that the application you use to print the photo probably doesn't use high resolution to generate print data (this is for sure the case with konqueror that generates print data at 72dpi). Using high resolution in the driver then doesn't help because the print data uses low res. So you should use an image app that prints at high resolution, like Gimp does. Did you try with kword?
