If the Qt implementation isn't good enough, we should look it fix
that. If you have problems with it, then elsewhere in kdepim may also
be having issues, so we may want to add the required code somewhere
suitable, either KCalCore or in the KCoreAddons::KFormat class which
is intended for such things.

If you can document the specific issues and post a Qt bug report, I
can see what needs fixing in Qt and sort out an interim solution in
frameworks.
