BTW, if you create a new imap resource and enter mailbox.rwth-aachen.de for 
the server and click on "detect automatically" for the encryption, do you also 
get the error that SSL does not work?

If so, maybe somebody familiar with packet sniffing can have a look at the 
traffic on the network adapter since debugging it within akonadi does not seem 
to be possible.
