I'm not proposing anything I'm asking for input. Apart from that I do not 
intend in anyway to enable HTML composing as default at this time.

As I see it there are two distinct use cases:

* Read mail as the sender intended it to be read - This bug or the "Prefer 
HTML" option
* Write mails with rich text features - Composing HTML mail

How will this hurt long time users? I fail to see how enabling this will hurt 
them.
