(summary: it seems an expired alarm is causing kalarm to freeze)

Today, I found that Kalarm had frozen, so I killed it and restarted it--only 
to find it freezing again, each time I did so.   It seemed to be freezing 
when it tried to open the same expired alarm.

I removed the displaying.ics file from $HOME/.kde/share/apps/kalarm/ and the 
problem went away.

The offending alarm has not been causing problems before now--it's been 
running for several months.  It goes off at 3am and expires and disappears on  
its own after 1 hour.

While I don't know if that file alone was responsible, I am providing it here 
to see if anyone can reproduce the error.  I have removed the actual alarm 
message for privacy reasons.  If you need more information, let me know.  I 
have saved the entire directory of .ics files for reference purposes.
