What you mean are free/busy lists. For these, the others don't need to have read-access to any of your calendars, but you simply "export" (manually or automatically) your free and your blocked times. The F/B lists are not stored in a calendar, but are separate lists / files, which can be accessed by others, and which don't contain any sensitive information. Of course, Kontact is able to work with f/b lists.
