Ugh, I can't tell, since Dr. Konqi is no longer showing up and I can't seem to 
trap this is gdb.  Sigh.  Maybe I didn't rebuild enough.

One very interesting thing is that running kmail standalone doesn't seem to 
cause the crash; it only happens running kmail embedded inside kontact.
