For the archives ...

The HR-XML consortium has defined an open standard for many (all?)
aspects of human resource management; for example, resumes, job
postings, and timecards.

The specifications are open--the only licensing requirement is that you
retain their copyright note in the docs. This specfication has the
blessing of SAP, Oracle, Kelley Services, and Manpower Inc.

You can view an index of the docs online [1] or register [2] (name +
email) to download the full 17 meg zip file.

Their timecard schema is pretty complete--I've attached the graphic, as
well as the license and readme that covers the entire standard.

My vision is karm-win32-2007 sending XML timecards to SAP servers for
10% of the thousands and thousands of temp workers employed in the U.S.

CONFORMANCE NOTE:
-------------
Some parser implementations require the namespace prefix "xml"
be declared as an attribute in the "xsd:schema" root element:

xmlns:xml="http://www.w3.org/XML/1998/namespace"

2004-08-02 Release Notes
-------------
This download contains all current specification Recommendations approved by HR-XML, \
including documentation and xml schemas. Deprecated versions can be still be \
downloaded at www.hr-xml.org.

Versioning and Namespaces:
This release represents a shift in versioning. All schemas have been assigned a \
versioned namespace based on the release date. The library-wide HR-XML namespaced \
version for this release is: http://ns.hr-xml.org/2004-08-02

Stand alone schemas:
This release also continues the tradition of offering "stand alone" versions of \
Consortium schemas with all schema "includes" inserted into a single schema. This \
enables the quick adoption of standards because the complexity of dependent includes \
is minimized. (XML Schema imports are still used in some files.)

"DIFF" files:
A new feature of this release is the use of "DIFF" files which clearly show the net \
changes in a schema. The tool that created these files makes use of color coding to \
show the differences between a previously released schema side-by-side its current \
counterpart. This should be considered experimental documentation.

Dependency tables:
This release contains a two different tables showing a listing of schema \
dependencies. See Utility folder for the files.

Invoice:
The HR-XML SIDES initiative (Staffing Industry Data Exchange Standards) uses the \
Invoice schema designed by the Open Applications Group. The Open Applications group \
OAGIS 8.0 Invoice specification is included in this download as a convenience. It is \
a subset of the overall OAGIS 8.0 content. For more information on OAGIS 8.0, see \
http://www.openapplications.org. (Clarification: The HR-XML and OAGIS standards are \
found in separate directory structures in this download. This allows any entity to \
download the entire OAGIS 8.0 content without needing to maintain the Invoice in a \
separate HR-XML directory. In addition, rather than make edits to OAGIS 8.0, the \
entire set of documentation is included.)

Acronyms and terminology
-------------
BSC ............. Business Steering Committee.
CPO ............. Cross Process Objects. Used to refer to basic reusable schema \
components that are used and enforced Consortium-wide. Recommendation .. A standard \
that has been approved by the Consortium via vote as described in the Consortium \
by-laws. Edition ............. A re-release of a component, documentation, or schema. \
This is not a minor version update and should not include semantic changes. This is \
to be used for bug fix or technical change releases (i.e. the move to a single \
Consortium-wide namespace in the 2003-02 release).
SEP ............. Staffing Exchange Protocol.
Shared .......... A term used to represent reusable schema components (like CPOs). \
However their use is not enforced across the entire Consortium's standards. SIDES \
........... Staffing Industry Data Exchange Standards. Technical Note .. A formal \
"Note" issued by the Technical Steering Committee that carries official recognition. \
Technical Notes have not been voted on by the Consortium.
                                (See TSC-DocumentVersionStatusDefined-v01-00.pdf \
document.) TSC ............. Technical Steering Committee.
UserArea ........ Standard Consortium extension element. See CPO/HRXMLExtension.pdf \
document.
