Subject: [Kde-pim] KPilot Hot-sync freezes at 'Identifying user'

Greetings,

When I start a HotSync, I hear the "start sync" tone and the Visor
screen says "Identifying user". It never gets past this point.
After apparently timing out, I hear the "end sync" tone and the Visor
displays:
"The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop was
lost"...
while the KPilot HotSync log says:
"Unable to read system information from Pilot"

I've recently upgraded my Fedora Core 2 system to Fedora Core 4.
KPilot hot-syncing stopped working after the upgrade. pilot-xfer
displays the correct list of databases on the Visor.

Any pointers to how to get past the "Identifying User" screen (on the
Visor) would be appreciated. Problem details are listed below.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Eric.

I've followed the HowTo setup udev for use with USB/Serial at:
<http://www.clasohm.com/blog/one-entry?entry_id=12096>
resulting in a /etc/udev/rules.d/10-visor.rules file with the line:
BUS="usb", SYSFS{product}="*Treo*", KERNEL="ttyUSB*", SYMLINK="pilot"

I've read the KPilot FAQ
<http://www.slac.com/pilone/kpilot_home/faq.html>
and have compiled the following info:
