On the Palm front, there are three main contenders, [gjk]pilot, all of which
work with the same underlying library for communications and data marshalling
(pilot-link). The different efforts have historically been somewhat seperate,
but we feel that in the medium term we have to cooperate to unify the kinds
of plugins each application uses, and unify some of the syncing logic and
device polling that we need. As such, we feel that it's more valuable to
standardize in our corner of the world - where at least we have a defined API
already, &c. - _before_ venturing out intro even more grandiose schemes and
creating new APIs. We'll watch, of course, what happens elsewhere.
