This is simple. According to the IMAP semantic you MUST use a trash folder for
that. No client ever can depend on the fact that deleted messages are only
flaged. The delete flag is only there for effiency.

No, this is a missunderstanding. There is no semantic difference between
online imap or dIMAP.
