There are several bugs listed in the KDE bug database about "kded" gobbling up
30-40% cpu utilization. It seems like most are marked as CLOSED or
RESOLVED. IIRC, some were related to kmail or korganizer.

I'm experiencing the same thing. Some number of minutes after booting my
laptop (usually 10 or so), I'll hear the CPU fan turn on and sure enough -
"top" shows 2 kdeinits using about 30% each. Killing the one that's
associated with "kded" quiets everything down and the load returns to normal
(about 0.1 to 0.2). I'm running KDE from CVS HEAD, kernel 2.6.0-test8 and
typically have kmail, konquerer (in filemanagement mode), firebird, gaim, and
a couple of konsoles running.

Any suggestions about figuring out which application or action is kicking this
off?

Thanks,

Emmett Pate
