I am the author of KGpg (http://devel-home.kde.org/~kgpg/), which is now part
of kdeutils. Several persons asked me if it was possible to somehow integrate
KGpg into KaddressBook.
Currently, the key management in Kaddressbook is not very user friendly - it
doesn't show any info about the keys (except the key type), so i have a few
questions:
* Wouldn't it be easier if the pgp keys were not stored in the addressbook.
Instead, the addressbook could just store the key ID. This way, the keys
would not be stored in two different places (gpg and the addressbook), but
only in the gpg keyring. That would make things easier, for example if the
key changes in gpg, you don't need to change it in the addressbook. Of
course, when you export a vcard, the pgp key would be exported from gpg into
the vcard, and importing a vcard would import the key into the gpg keyring.
* If for some reason the keys have to be stored in the addressbook, I was
thinking to write a "syncronize gpg with addressbook" option, that would
export all kaddressbook keys into gpg, and export all gpg keys whose emails
exist in kaddressbook into the address book. What do you think ?
* It would be nice to be able to see the key properties from kaddressbook. I
am currently working on a dcop action that would display the key info, so it
could easily be added to the addressbook.
* Does anybody else have ideas about how kgpg and kaddressbook could work
together ? any wishes ?
regards
bj
