As this message says, you have korganizer running. In kde 3.1 you cannot have 
korganizer running and do a sync, because under certain circumstances this 
will either lead to data corruption or loss. 
If you quit korganizer, the sync should go fine.

In kde 3.2 this restriction is not needed any longer and was removed long ago 
(but it will still be quite some time until kde 3.2 is released).
