Subject:    [Kde-pim] KPilot does not start daemon

I can backup with pilot-link.
I can manually start kpilotDaemon on the command line and messages show up in 
the KPilot window.
But, KPilot does not start the daemon when I click sync.
Any thoughts?
What more information can I provide to help?

Red Hat 8.0
KDE 3.0.3-8.3 Red Hat
KPilot 4.3.3
pilot-link 0.11.3
Handspring Visor Edge on USB
