If I could find my PalmV (it's in a moving box somewhere) I could try this a 
little more effectively.

IIRC, you have an m500, right? For some _weird_ reason, a function which used 
to return 1 is suddenly returning -18 -- also on my machine at home. Removing 
the check from the code (in lib/kpilotlink.cc) lets the sync continue and 
might not even have any bad effects (I can't tell, since m500 syncing under 
FBSD is hopeless anyway). 

This may be a password issue, though then I still have no idea what to do 
about it.
