That is a very interesting article. From what I could tell, Claris uses the 
editor as the viewer. I personally think this design is flawed, and I think 
that is what lead to a few of their problems (like users want to view the 
information _much_ more than they want to edit it.

I do agree with the fact that the information in a contact is normally self 
labeling. I was planning on adding the ability to hide labels in the card 
view, allowing the card to show more of the data and less of the label.

I think with the new AddresseeEditorDialog that I am working, it will be 
easy to test some new editing interfaces, since the AddresseeEditorDialog 
will define the API for the application and internally use a seperate 
(switchable) widget.

I think it is also important to note how much the users wanted customizable 
fields, something our implementation is not great at.

I think all these issues are definately fixable though.
