XML is nice and buzzword compatible, but for things like addressbook or 
calendar data it's far better to use the existing standards, like vCard or 
iCalendar. They define not only the syntax, but also the semantics of the 
data and that is, what's really needed. It's pretty useless to know that a 
document is well-formed and can be validated, if you don't understand the 
data, that it contains.
