which is not at all related to the screenlocker architecture. It's KDM.

That is KWin, again totally unrelated to the lock screen architecture. 
And that patch went in without approval by the maintainer and without 
review. My reaction was:
"I'm surprised by that. There won't be any more 4.11 releases unless 
there are security issues."

Overall it just proves the point: you have no idea about that old code 
and need hand holding. I hope nobody wastes their time by hand holding 
you.
