I would like to try moving the complete tooltip into the WM. I'm very unhappy 
with what we currently have and I consider especially the window thumbnails to 
be more like a cludge.

We have inside KWin the possibility to embed thumbnails directly in QML and I 
think that is what would really be useful here. The taskbar thumbnail effect 
just does not have enough context to properly animate the thumbnail. If it has 
the information that it's switching from one window to another (moving mouse 
over the task) could really allow us to do nice things. Yes we could do such 
transitions also in the effect, but QML gives it for free.
