i came to my senses and just decided to employ modeltest on the existing mo=
del=20
implementation which is featureful and otherwise well tested. it is now=20
working rather well. i'd invite people to test.

if you build with debugfull then you'll also get modeltest built into plasm=
ate=20
and any errors in the model will trigger an assert and present a very helpf=
ul=20
backtrace.
