the clock and the calendar handle their own tooltips. they are not related.

to _change_ the day -> click
to _preview_ the contents of the day -> hover (or click, for touch devices)

iow, nothing there changes.

yes. it's not that big.

just like it does now, only with a larger popup. like, as you noted, the 
networking plasmoid does.

the standalone calendar? yes. they already share the calendar table. i think 
it needs to be modified somewhat as it may not be a popup and so the events 
pane should be collapsable.

the weather engine would make that easy enough, yes. not 100% sure if it makes 
a ton of sense to have the weather there rather than other useful information.
