FYI, Lubos gave the answer below in the kwin ML. So I'll go ahead and
remove that code, and make sure plasma always sets the geometry of the
views.

 I am fine with removing code from KWin that forces geometry of Desktop
windows (there's at least one more place in manage.cpp).
