I just svn up kdebase, retried. No difference -- still the 3 to 6 added pixels.

I added some kDebug's in applet.cpp... turns out that the wrong rect
in this function (paint() line ~890 in applet.cpp) is
option->exposedRect. It is already wrong here. The contentsRect is the
whole screen, it's not the relevant rect here.
