yes, free sizing and panel hiding are the last two bits needed. neither are 
particularly difficult, though.

we already support multiple panels and panels on each side fo the screen.

the only thing that will be different layout-wise is that plasma will not 
support multi-screen panels. each panel will live on one and only one screen 
at a time.

(there are lots of non-layout differences, of course, but that's not 
particularly relevant to this discussion here =)
