remember that *all* plasmoids share the same scene. windows (be it the 
desktop, panels, dashboard, whatever) are all just *views* on to that scene.

to "pop" a random plasmoid into a window would be as simple as adding a 
containment somewhere to the screen (negative coords, like the panels) and 
center the view on that.

to "pop" a plasmoid from the desktop, panel, etc would be as "simple" as 
moving the plasmoid from the desktop containment it is in to the new 
containment you just created.
