Ok, just wanted to let you know that I just released ecasound 1.8.1d14. This is the first version that supports aRts (libartsc) by default. You just need to install two rpm-packages (ecasound and ecasound-plugins packages) and that's it. The simplest example of use would be: ecasound -i somefile.wav -o arts ... if you are unfamiliar with ecasound, check http://eca.cx and http://eca.cx/ecasound for more info. Then another thing. I just tested the above with the current aRts CVS-tree. When server and ecasound are both run as root, everything is fine, but if I run ecasound as a normal user I get "bad md5 cookie". If I remember right, this worked with older CVS-versions (can't check now). What's the story behind this? -- . http://www.eca.cx ... [ audio software for linux ] /\ . . http://www.eca.cx/aivastus ...
