Okay, I tested, "reviewed" and applied it (you could use diff -u for your
patches, that makes them easier to read). It seems that both of the problems
you describe do not occur when testing them with wave files. Also, if I
remove the comment marked as "remove this to get a crash", it works with
wave files. And it should, as it is still perfectly legal code.
