hi all,

okay, have been looking into it a bit and it'll be difficult to come up with a 
better solution while maintaining the current, simple interface.

Two possible solutions:

Pseudo-Multithreading: Open the stream, enter an infinite loop calling 
process_events() to not stall event processing of the application, make 
KIOInputStream emit a signal once it got the mimetype, break out of the loop 
and create the playobject.

The same can be done with real multithreading, if signals/slots are 
thread-safe.

Every other solution will change the interface.
