From kde-multimedia Wed Feb 20 08:50:13 2002 From: Richard Bown Date: Wed, 20 Feb 2002 08:50:13 +0000 To: kde-multimedia Subject: aRts roadmap X-MARC-Message: https://marc.info/?l=kde-multimedia&m=101419520403107 Hi, As a member of the Rosegarden team I'd just like to PLEAD with someone to tell us what the state of play is with the aRts roadmap. We're just humble application developers. We're non-IRC users, we're not aRTS code developers and we find ourselves very much left on the outside looking in. Up until now we've been quite happily developing our app for arts-0.6.0 but we've now come to a stage where we'd like to see the MIDI stuff more or less completed i.e. on-board soundcard synth support and the promised audio/MIDI syncing. We are rapidly approaching a usuable product and aRts/kdemultimedia is very much on the critical path. The aRts mailing list is dead, the linux audio mailing list is full of talk about ALSA, Stefan doesn't answer his email - at least he doesn't for me. I can see from CVS that there's the arts/ module (gsl stuff) and then there's the kdemultimedia/arts/. In the latter the midi/ component looks very similar to that of arts-0.6.0. Anyone want to clarify the situation for aRts MIDI? I'm sure I'm not the only person who's a little frustrated with the opacity of this project. Thanks, Richard Bown http://www.all-day-breakfast.com/rosegarden/ _______________________________________________ kde-multimedia mailing list kde-multimedia@mail.kde.org http://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-multimedia
