Well, yes, artsd looks in its --prefix, the same as reported by artsc-config
--prefix. That is, in /usr/lib/kdelibs-2.2.2/lib/mcop.

artsd -h says nothing relevant.

I'm willing to ask Stephan, how/where should I contact him?

Well, all of my KDE and KDE apps are built with a preix different from the
location of kdelibs, and everythin works except for this 1 problem.

I'd be doing the future upgrades :-) But I'm not too happy about this either.

I would probably do the same if I were making this choice. But the rationale
here is: if KDE behaved like std apps and libs do, it'd have no problem with
kdelibs living separately from the apps. So instead of saying "KDE behaves
wrongly, we have to adapt" we say "treat it like everyone else and let it
adapt." - i.e. by submiting bug reports. (No offence intended)
