judging from the description, I've got the exact same bug in kde 2.2.1/cvs 
(tried both the kde_2_2_branch and the kde_2_2_1_release tags).

However, my backtrace is slightly different, so I thought it might be of use 
to you.

BTW, the ...no debugging symbols found... must be qt, which i installed from 
suse rpms. kde is entirely compiled from source,
