how about a standalone package for Kile, one of the apps nonlinux people long most?
i often tried it but there are too many missing parts in the interface to call it complete

That's a good question, do we? How about role call.
Who on this list has the time, discipline AND knowledge necessary to
mentor a student for the duration of the summer of code?

I fail on at least 2 out of 3 of those qualities.
